Islands. An audiovisual journey through infinite landscapes
A guide that takes you on creative journeys through the island regions
In 2020 we begin a journey to explore new creative territories. Infinite landscapes in finite places. This experience has led us to discover different island corners over the years. In 2022 we explored Iceland and launched our web application to share our experience with all those who enjoy discovering new territories. Islas has been mutating its format from editorial experiments to three-dimensional digital cartographic creations.
From the volcanoes of the Azores to the glaciers of Iceland, by way of Tenerife —a mini continent in itself—, the Aeolian Islands, Boipeba, Sardinia and Menorca. Each island adds its own landscape, rhythm and community to Islas' ever-growing map. On Tenerife, Mount Teide cuts through the trade winds and crowns the island in clouds; on the Aeolian Islands, Stromboli has been erupting since the days of the Odyssey; and Boipeba has no cars, only sea and mangrove.

This guide grows island by island: new destinations are added every year, explored through the lives of those who inhabit them and the geological origins of their landscapes. And it offers pleasures to enjoy on the ground: from each place's own cuisine to natural attractions such as natural rock pools; from voyages among the ice of Jökulsárlón to the tropical gardens of the Azores or the volcanoes of the Aeolian Islands.
Photographing an island means learning to look at it slowly.
The camera looks for what no map marks: the light on a cliff in Sardinia, the colour of a market in Boipeba, the silence of a crater in the Aeolian Islands, the fog over a forest in Tenerife. Each island reveals its own textures — of stone, water, people — turned into a visual archive, and into material for the rest of the project: the guide, the paper, the stories.
Three publications that invite you to experience life on the islands.
Each island has its own notebook, published in Spanish and English: a small author's publication with a simple map of the points of interest and a guide with recommendations from local figures. A publication that pays homage, through a contemporary lens, to the travel journals of Humboldt, Agatha Christie or the chronicler Alonso de Espinosa.
The Tenerife edition begins with Macaronesia and the Guanches, crosses the laurel forest, the trade winds and Mount Teide, and ends with three numbered itineraries — fifteen stops, from the Charco de los Chochos to the natural pools of Garachico — with the addresses of the guachinches, vermouth bars and markets the islanders themselves recommend. It is the part of Islas you leaf through, underline and keep; the one that brings the editorial experience gathered in other projects onto paper.
