Sitting down to eat in a more sustainable way

A gastronomic and editorial project that celebrates sustainability, local produce, and Mediterranean identity.

Mesa Mediterránea

In 2018, María Diago and TPW began shaping a simple yet ambitious idea: to create a platform capable of transforming the conversation around sustainable gastronomy in the Mediterranean. This led to the birth of Mediterranean Table, a brand conceived as an editorial, cultural, and digital space from which to promote new ways of cooking, producing, and consuming.

A brand with a Mediterranean flavour, inspired by the light, colours and open-hearted nature of the Mediterranean. The brand identity extends naturally to publications, digital media and brand experiences.

Building on this vision, TPW developed a brand identity system capable of translating Mesa Mediterránea’s values into a coherent and contemporary visual language. From the naming and visual identity to the editorial and digital architecture, every element was conceived to create a distinctive brand closely connected to Mediterranean culture.
A flexible and consistent brand universe capable of supporting the platform’s growth while strengthening its positioning through a strategic and cultural perspective.

The launch of the guide will lead to the creation of a community that supports the project. Thanks to its digital presence, we have been able to launch the publishing project and establish links with the audience and sponsors. These days, a brand is either digital or it doesn’t exist.

The project

Sustentable is a pioneering guide dedicated to sustainable gastronomy in the Valencian Community. The project brings together and recognises restaurants that integrate sustainability into the way they produce, cook, and engage with their local environment. More than a gastronomic publication, the guide offers a new perspective on dining, placing environmental commitment, local produce, and Mediterranean culture at its core.

More than a hundred restaurants selected along the nearly 400 kilometres separating Vinaròs, at the northern tip, from Pilar de la Horadada, in the south. In each of them, a photo session portrays its protagonists: the chefs, their recipes and the produce behind them, always local and seasonal. A production deployed across the whole territory, from coast to interior, which edition after edition has built the culinary archive of the Comunitat Valenciana.

Sustentable’s visual identity shaped a publication where design, photography, and editorial content came together seamlessly. What began as a single guide soon evolved into a second edition, expanding its journey through the sustainable gastronomy of the Valencian Community. Alongside the editorial design of both publications, TPW carried out extensive photographic work across restaurants throughout the region, capturing chefs, interiors, and some of the signature dishes that best reflect their culinary philosophy.

The Guide in Your Pocket. A Digital Experience for Discovering Sustainable Gastronomy.

As the project evolved, Sustentable expanded into the digital world with the development of a mobile app designed by TPW. The app brought the guide into users’ everyday lives, making it easy to discover restaurants, browse information, and explore the sustainable gastronomy of the Valencian Community through a fast, intuitive, and accessible mobile experience.

Sustentable Events

The launch of Sustentable in 2018 transformed Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences into a meeting point for chefs, producers, researchers, and professionals committed to a new way of understanding gastronomy. More than 350 guests attended an event designed to introduce the project while creating a space for dialogue around sustainability, local identity, and culinary innovation.

The Launch of Sustentable

More than 350 professionals gathered in Valencia to introduce a new vision of sustainable gastronomy.

Recognising those who make sustainability a way of understanding food.

The Sustentable Awards were created to recognise restaurants and professionals committed to a more responsible approach to gastronomy. Categories such as Local Sourcing and Social Sustainability celebrated initiatives that create a positive impact on both communities and the environment.

TPW also designed the official award trophy, conceived as a sculptural piece that reflects the values of sustainability, excellence, and sensibility that define the project.
